Pages 103-104

This was Gauguin's answer to Vincent's Red Vineyard, which show women in Breton attire (not a wine-producing part of France), and a "poor desolate person" in the foreground Gauguin described as "bewitched."


Gauguin gave this painting multiple titles: Grape Harvest, Poverty and Human Miseries.
